As a teenager and young adult I excelled at sport, representing my country at elite international level in golf and tennis. I learnt to push my body and mind to the maximum. After university and a professional golf career, I entered the modern corporate world where the "game" totally changed. There is no ‘event’, no start or finish, it’s continual. My first exposure to programming was after high school when I started coding in machine mnemonics on a Zilog Z80 computer board with a hex pad, and an 8-character dot-matrix display. Since then I programmed in assembly and in most mainstream (declarative only) languages from FORTRAN through Ruby all the way to Python. I love programming - It's one of the activities that puts me in the Flow, the other is Mathematics! I work hard and am curious about systems in general - probably due to my training in Systems Engineering.
